My name is
Anton Ivanov. I was born 20.10.1953 in
Plovdiv town, the central part of South Bulgaria and my passion for
over forty years has been collecting minerals.
In 1978 I
defended my Master's thesis in mineralogy and crystallography at the
Mineralogy, Petrology and Economic Geology department of the
Sofia University "St. Kl. Ohridsky". Between 1978 and 1990 I worked
in the field of prognosis, searching, prospecting and exploration of
rare and radioactive minerals. During this time period I also
specialized in the scientific research of the mineralogy and
geochemistry of secondary uranium deposits. Since 1990 I have had my own
business.
In 1986 I
donated my first large collection with unique specimens from all over
the world to the newly established
Earth and Men National
Museum in Sofia.
My new
collection, part of which you can see on this site, is comprised mostly
of minerals from Bulgaria:
Madan ore field,
Laki ore field, Davidkovo
ore field, as well as from many other hydrothermal and pegmatite
deposits. In the collection I also have specimens from Russia,
Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, the majority of which I have collected over
the years personally.
Ilmeny mountains, Ural, Rus sia.
